I wanted to share a color science activity that I did the other day. This is a very simple activity to do, but it is very good at showing a child how the colors that they use every day are often made up of other colors.

Here is how ours turned out. It is not easy to see all of the seperation from the picture. The green seperating into blue and yellow can be seen pretty good in the picture though. One of the colors that suprised us was grey. When it seperated we could see purple and yellow. Try this yourself and see if any of the colors suprise you.
I love your site. This is a fantastic idea and I will try it with my kids. My daughter LOVES mixing colors and this is much less messy than the route she normally takes.
Thanks also for posting the great American Toy links! I will be checking those out as well.
Hi Traci. This project can be pretty mess free, but if your daughter is anything like my kids she will find a way to make it messy.
Have fun trying it out!
What a great project! I’m so glad I popped over here to your blog from your main site!
I am glad that you popped over too! I hope that you enjoy doing this project.
