Did you drop something?

The little guy comes and goes with his afternoon nap. I think he’ll drop it soon. So when he’s awake it’s just the two of us and I can get some great  ”Me and him” time.  The little guy is pretty independent and happiest if he has lots of things to see and do. I have to invite myself into his games although he’s including me more. I love the independent streak in him so I have to find something fun to drag him to something I want to do with him. It doesn’t happen very often. One game we are loving right now is “Dropping something” from the weekly play emails.

Dropping something

    * Let your child guess what has been dropped.

We use a glass bowl or vase depending up what I can find.
He loves guessing which one it was I dropped.. He’s not talking so he points until he finds the right one. He helps me on with my blindfold. It’s kind of tricky when it’s his turn as he tends to drop more than one or tell you which it is. But we have a lot of fun with it and he’s slowly getting the idea of turn taking, anticipation, and prediction. We collect small things from around the house to add to the collection. We spend a little time following up with naming the items, imitating the action or sometimes saying the sounds only.

He brings me a blindfold and the little box of bits and pieces and I know what game he wants to play.
