All Natural SunScreen and Bug Repellent

Monday, June 30th, 2008

About a month ago I told you about a sunscreen that I was purchasing to use for my kids and myself. I had been reading quite a bit about the dangerous chemicals that are in most of the sunscreens out there and it was definitely disturbing.

Well, I have had my Mexitan sunscreen for a white now and I have to say that I am very, very happy. My biggest concern was that the sunscreen was going to be difficult to rub in, I had read that this was why many companies went to harsh chemicals.

I purchased their SPF 30 and it has worked perfectly for myself and my kids.

I also purchased this company’s bug repellent.  I have always been very wary of DEET, but have not had success with a product that did not contain it. Well, I am the biggest mosquito magnet, but I have not gotten one bite when I have used the Skedattle. Now that is amazing.

Rainy Day Activity

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Well, today is the first official day of summer vacation for my kids and it is a rainy day!  So, instead of being outside today I have to come up with something that we can have fun doing inside.

I think that today will be a good day to make salt dough or home made play dough.

This is a good activity for a rainy day because there are many stages.  You get to make the recipe, talk about the science and they play with what you create.  Fun and educational!

Friday, June 20th, 2008

The answer to yesterday’s Thursday thinker is 12.

There are always 12 three cent stamps in a dozen.  Many times a person will answer this question too quickly and say the answer is 4.

Summer Activities with Your Kids

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

I know that for many people their children are already out of school, but mine have 2 more days.  I love spending the summer with my kids.  We can go by our own schedule and really enjoy our time together. But… there are definitely struggles.

The “I’m bored” and “What are we going to do today?” are pretty constant.

This year I am prepared!!!  I signed up for “Surviving the Summer at Home“.

Ever week Christina sends out multiple projects based on a theme. I received my first one and am very excited to jump in with the kids.

All you have to do is sign up and you will receive her wonderful ideas. There is no cost involved.

Thursday Thinker Answer – It’s a Cut Up

Friday, June 13th, 2008

Here is the answer to yesterday’s Thursday Thinker.

If Jack Lumber charges $7 to cut a lot into two pieces, then he would charge $21 to cut it into 4 pieces.

It takes one cut to cut a long into 2 pieces. To cut a log into 4 pieces it takes 3 cut. At $7 per cut the total is $21.
